Watford Girls School get behind Starlight

Wednesday, 06 May 2009
As the Starlight Walk fast approaches its first ever sell-out, 30 pupils and 25 teachers from Watford Girls Grammer school became the biggest collective group of participants to have ever signed up for the ‘all female’ Starlight Walk since its launch 3 years ago.

The midnight walk which takes place on Saturday 13th June in aid of the Peace Hospice is expected to sell out within the next 3 weeks.

The Year 10 girls from Watford Girls Grammer School will be a few of the many female participants to join up on the 13 mile walk which starts at the Colosseum in Watford, before passing through the high street, Bushey arches, Croxley Green and Cassiobury.

Watford Girls Grammer School teacher Jenny Smith co-ordinated the group of walkers from her school and said ‘We have a great relationship with the Peace Hospice and our girls are fully aware of the great work that the Hospice does.

All of our pupils were given an opportunity to take part in the walk and those of us who are doing it are hoping to raise lots of money.

Some of our girls have already managed to raise in excess of £100.  We’re all really looking forward to the night. It’s my third successive Starlight Walk and the night is always amazing and just gets better each year - the girls are going to really enjoy it’!

For a last gasp opportunity to register for this year’s Starlight Walk, visit www.starlightwalk.org.uk or call the Hospice’s fundraising team on 01923 330340.
