A generous donation of £2,848 was presented to the Peace Hospice this week following a staff celebratory event.
The Grove marked its 5th birthday by holding a staff social event and in doing so, also managed to raise money for the Hospice.
The Grove’s General Manager, Jane Goodyer said ‘We celebrated The Grove’s 5th birthday by holding a fun day for all our team members and their families and took the opportunity to involve everyone in raising money for our favourite charity. We are delighted to donate the proceeds of the day, to the Peace Hospice which we have supported as our main charity since we opened.''
The Hospice’s Corporate Development Manager, Maggie Grand said ‘We are delighted that The Grove were thinking of us – even on their birthday. We value highly our partnership with The Grove and we were delighted that Kate also took time out of her schedule to visit patients at the Hospice and present us with the cheque.
We plan to spend £3.5 million this year in both running and developing our services. We only receive 25% of this amount from the Health Service with the remaining 75% needing to come from voluntary contributions. All the care we provide to our patients and their families is free’.
The Peace Hospice, based in Watford, cares for people living with a terminal illness and their families from across South West Hertfordshire. We provide inpatient care, day care, an outpatient service, a hospice at home service as well as bereavement support.
