 Final preparations are being made for an afternoon of top class entertainment in CassioburyPark from 12 noon on Sunday 31st August in aid of the Peace Hospice.
‘Peace in the Park’ includes an afternoon programme of live music, indian dancing, salsa, baton twirling and attractions including pedal ponies, a coconut shy and climbing wall.
There will also be catering outlets and other refreshments available.The Fire Service will also be present giving demonstrations and there will be a variety of stalls to visit including the Watford Credit Union, Watford Womens Centre and Energy Conservation.
The event is part of a wider ‘Pedal for Peace’ cycle ride event which takes place at 9am.
The Hospice’s Community Fundraising Manager Gill Crowson said ‘This promises to be a fantastic day out for the family.The morning starts with our Pedal for Peace cycle event and we are expecting more than 150 cyclists to take part, choosing our 10, 20 or 30 mile course starting and finishing in Cassiobury Park.
The afternoon focuses on taking it easy and we have some fantastic live bands, side attractions and children’s rides that will suit the whole family’.
The Peace Hospice, based in Watford, cares for people living with a terminal illness and their families from across South West Hertfordshire. It provides inpatient care, day care, an outpatient service, a hospice at home service as well as bereavement support. It plans to spend £3.5 million this year in both running and developing its services. The Hospice only receive 20% of this amount from the Health Service with the remaining 80% needing to come from from voluntary contributions. All the care it provides to its patients and their families is free.
