Over 100 dogs and their owners descended on Cassiobury Park last Sunday and raised in excess of £5,000 for the Peace Hospice. The ‘Paws in the Park’ fundraising event saw a mixture of Labradors, German Shepherds and Pugs all completing the 4 mile course through Cassiobury Park and Whippendell woods. The Hospice’s Community Fundraiser Emma Watson said ‘We were delighted with the response to Paws. The atmosphere was fantastic and it made for a great day out. Fortunately, nobody got lost with all 65 dogs and their owners making it back to collect their certificates. Even the 3 legged terrier dog, Max completed the walk without a hitch’!
Paula Horsnell who completed the 4 mile course said ‘We had a great time! It was lovely to do the walk and it was nice to be able to take part as a whole family. I will definitely sign up again next year’! There were also prizes on offer with the Best Dressed Dog prize going to Lucy, a chocolate Labrador who dressed in a pink tutu narrowly beating a Welsh corgi who was dressed in a Welsh outfit, flying the flag of Wales around his neck. Paws in the Park was sponsored by Hancock Quins. The next Hospice fundraising event to take place is the South American Coffee morning at 10am at the Hospice this Saturday (June 7th).
