Over 1,100 balls of wool have been used to knit a scarf that’s more than double the length of the Eiffel tower.
The 850 metre long scarf was knitted by 240 Hospice supporters in the red and yellow colours of our partners in the project, Watford Football Club.
The eager knitters began work on the scarf in December 2006 as a fundraising initiative which has raised in excess of £16k.
Community Fundraising Manager Gill Crowson said ‘This has been a fantastic project! We recently wrapped the scarf around the Hospice which looked spectacular. I would like to thank all our knitters who generously put hours of work into making the scarf.’
All the wool used for the scheme was donated by the Wilkinson store in Watford. The scarf will now be turned into blankets and distributed to Romania via the development and relief agency ADRA. |
