15 years of bell ringing raises nearly £10k for the Hospice |

A local group of bell ringers from Watford have donated their latest cheque of £946.43 to the Hospice following a 4 hour bell ringing performance outside M&S in Rickmansworth. The Trefoil Bell ringers who performed Christmas carols to passers by have raised a massive £9,881.85 for the Hospice in the 15 years that they’ve been together. The group made up of ex girl guides and brownies regularly perform in public and have raised over £16,000 for local charities over the years.Joan Fox, a member of the Trefoil Bell Ringers said ‘We really enjoy doing what we do, it keeps us going, keeps our audience going and keeps the charities that we support going – everyone wins! I am hopeful that our 16th year of supporting the Hospice, will in total, take us over the £10,000 mark this year. I’m delighted that a hobby like this has raised so much money for charities over the years’. Director of Fundraising for the Hospice Jim Swindells said ‘We are extremely grateful to the Trefoil Bell ringers for their support for the Hospice. The team have been able to put their talents and hobbies to great use and have collectively helped to raise vital funds for us. Their commitment to supporting local charities has been fantastic!’ The Peace Hospice, based in Watford, cares for terminally ill patients and their families from South West Hertfordshire. It provides inpatient care, day care, outpatient service and a hospice at home service as well as bereavement support. It costs £3.1m a year to provide these services and over 75% of this is supported through charitable donations. All the care that the Hospice provides for its patients is free. |
