The Peace Hospice has expanded its chain of high street charity shops with the acquisition of a new site in Bridlington Road, South Oxhey. The Hospice's new media centre opened on 26 October selling a wide range of new and second hand goods including books, dvd’s, cd’s and video games. This is the ninth Hospice shop to open its doors to the public, with outlets located across South West Hertfordshire. Hospice Retail Director, Steve Rose said ‘I am really excited about our new media shop which is quite different from any of our other shops as it focuses specifically on selling good quality books and other media related items. I am delighted that we have been able to open this shop and am confident that customers will pick up some great products at affordable prices’. The Hospice already has a shop in the main parade in South Oxhey which sells goods ranging from furniture to clothing. The Hospice’s other shops are located in Bushey Heath, Chorleywood, Garston, Radlett, Tudor, Watford High Street and Borehamwood. The Hospice shops raise around £1 million each year for the Peace Hospice, but it still needs to raise an additional £2 million in charitable income to continue to run and develop its services. The Peace Hospice provides an Inpatient Unit, Hospice at Home service, Day Care and Outpatient service as well as Family and Bereavement Support. All the care that the Hospice provides to its patients and their families is free.
